New Summer exhibition at Humber Street Gallery showcases Hull’s vibrant street art and graffiti scene;
The exhibition brings together artists from multiple generations who have shaped the cultural movement over the past forty years;
The show will extend beyond the gallery with city-wide workshops and three additional exhibitions across Hull.
Humber Street Gallery is proud to present Live Like Legends, an exhibition celebrating Hull’s vibrant street art and graffiti scene. Spanning two floors, the show explores the joys and complexities of this unique form of public expression, which has had a striking presence in Hull since the early 1980s.

Live Like Legends is a bold and compelling celebration of Hull’s Graffiti & Street Art Scene. Taking over Humber Street Gallery, the exhibition explores some of the joys and complexities of this unique form of public expression which has had a striking presence in the urban landscape of Hull since the early 1980s.
Live Like Legends brings together several generations of artists who have made critical contributions to the development of this far-reaching cultural scene over the past forty years.
Featuring newly commissioned artworks, the exhibition highlights the diversity of creative practice within this artistic community. An immersive, multimedia installation of curated ephemera, photography and previously unseen archive footage gives context to how the scene intersects with other aspects of street and youth culture alongside society more broadly.
Live Like Legends is a group of artists coming together to both celebrate and unpick a creative artform which has been defined by its existence outside of gallery walls - revealing the conditions which allowed it to thrive in a post-industrial Hull and to become part of a worldwide cultural phenomenon that was taking hold in major cities like New York and Paris.
Included in this exhibition is work by Detour, Ekoe, K148, Leebo, Lonny POP, Mike Sprout, Mr Joe, NoHone, Oman, Paris, Pesh, Pinky, SI2, Skeg, Sophie Cash, Spamdog, Vrok, Xenz, Yours and Ziml.
Live Like Legends is co-produced by Absolutely Cultured, Paris, Pinky, and Mike Sprout.
