GYROS - GREEK STREET FOOD REVIEW
BY LEANNE O’BRIEN
OPA! There are so many Greek food options in Hull at the moment and it’s one of those cuisines that is always super popular, possibly as it reminds us of summer holidays... ah, relaxing times!
Not only do Gyros - Greek Street Food operate from the quaint street food hole in the wall outside Princes Quay, but they are also business partners with Artemis Greek Taverna down Albion Street.
The first time we ordered, I really fancied a gyro, so when I found out you could get one to your door, this was a must! We ordered 2 chicken gyros and without thinking that we had already ordered dishes with bread and chips in... we ordered more bread and chips! Feta loaded Greek chips and garlic pitta to be precise.
I felt that I didn’t get a full scope of what Gyros had to offer this time so next time, I ordered possibly the most famous Greek dish, moussaka, after seeing some beautiful pictures on their social media of a fresh batch straight out of the oven!
Joss ordered the Greek village sausage and we shared a meze dish of gigades beans followed by my fave baklava for dessert. Starting with the moussaka - this was BEAUTIFUL! Comforting and delicious. The village sausage was also juicy and I liked the herby seasoning. I was so glad we ordered the gigades beans as they were extremely soft and buttery. The slow cooking made them ridiculously creamy which we LOVED!
The baklava was also amazing. A great portion dripping with syrup and crammed full with chopped nuts. Fancy Greek food without having to leave your house? I recommend Gyros Greek Street Food. Great food, quick service and lovely delivery staff!
