MILCHIG REVIEW
BY LEANNE O’BRIEN
When the much anticipated Milchig opened its doors in Paragon Arcade for the first time, we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek and sample the goods before the grand opening!
The word ‘milchig’ translated means ‘made with milk’ which gives you an indication of their theme: a cakery and milk bar. The shop itself is so aesthetically pleasing with its pastel tones, wood and sleek clean design giving Scandi, minimalist vibes with a quirky twist.
A bonus to the visit was that my fellow foodie @hull.happytummy and I finally ran into each other! I’m that kind of foodie person who will thoroughly scan a menu before I arrive and mentally choose what I am going to purchase so this was no different.
Milchig offer a variety of delicious treats including cereal milk, chunky cookies, gooey brownies and soft serve to name but a few. I could have had it all, but settled on the lemon and lavender soft serve which was topped with meringue, zesty lemon curd, dried lavender, shortbread crumb and lavender syrup. This was seriously refreshing and a niche for Hull!
Joss had the s’mores sundae complete with brownie pieces, toasted marshmallow and cookie pieces which was not only aesthetic AF, but so delicious. We also got a cookie each, I tried the vegan chocolate and walnut which was so chunky and gooey whilst Joss got a classic chocolate chip which was so buttery and our absolute highlight.
Dare we say it - the best cookie we have ever eaten! A more than welcome addition to our fantastic Hull foodie scene! Check it out for yourselves - bring your best elasticated trousers and prepare for some serious dessert porn!
