LEVEL REVIEW
BY LEANNE O’BRIEN
When I was organising a girly day drinking down Newland Avenue, Level is a central hub so seemed a good choice to start. One of my friends had been earlier in the week and ordered some fantastic looking cocktails so I was looking forward to indulging!
We started with blue lagoons at one of my friends’ recommendation; vodka, blue curaçao, lemon, sugar and lemonade. These were seriously refreshing. It was a warm day so these went down faster than I care to admit! Next up was frozen strawberry daiquiris, also perfect for the weather. Again, faultless! Very fruity, thirst quenching and so pretty!
Of course as a foodie, I had to have something to eat too as a buffer to copious amounts of alcohol. I opted for a couple of small plates so as to keep room for more cocktails and chose the deep fried goats cheese with a mixed leaf salad and raspberry vinaigrette and spicy king prawns. My friends chose hunters chicken, loaded pulled pork nachos and a side of fries. However I will just review my own food as we were too busy catching up to exchange notes!
The goats cheese was delicious, fantastic crispy coating, soft warm cheese and a deliciously fruity dressing. The prawns were also fantastic. Cooked really well and I loved the dressing which was a perfect balance of garlic and chilli. Buttery and moreish!
More cocktails were then ordered, including margaritas, a porn star martini and a Nutella martini (which I have raved about before!). I forgot to take a pic of this one so have added one in from our last visit along with a few others we love! It was a great start to our day drinking sesh - good food, great cocktails and attentive and friendly staff.
