TAPHOUSE REVIEW
BY LEANNE O’BRIEN
Taphouse is one of Yorkshire’s largest brewpubs offering a large variety of beers, lagers and ciders made in-house at their on-site brewery. You may find this an unusual choice for me as a non-beer drinker, but I am partial to cider, especially fruity ones and Taphouse do not disappoint for options.
Taphouse’s drink offerings change weekly so it’s always a surprise to see what is on the board to try. What I also love about Taphouse is that their kitchen plays host local street food legends Little Somboon Kitchen, who have been a long standing resident and serve up the most delicious Pan Asian - you HAVE to try whilst in Taphouse, chilling with a drink. I have had their food a few times now and can’t rate them high enough.
As I mentioned, I love Taphouse’s fruity ciders. Ciders can sometimes be heavy on the stomach, however their ciders are smooth, still and refreshing meaning there is always room for one more! Last time I reviewed Taphouse, Joss and I tried the tutti-fruitti and the lemon and lime which we loved. Since then, I have tried a lot more flavours along the way including strawberry and rhubarb.
Most recently, we visited last weekend and realised that you can order a flight to try out 4 different drinks - game changer! Joss and I ordered one each and between us tried mango, apple and blackberry, raspberry and rhubarb. Each one was fantastic, but clear favourites were the mango and rhubarb flavours. I highly recommend a flight if you want a variety of what Taphouse has to offer.
Love this place and I know you guys do too, as it came out high when I asked you all in my stories what your favourite place to drink in Hull was. Well done Taphouse. Remember guys, support local!
