THE BRAIN JAR REVIEW
BY LEANNE O’BRIEN
I absolutely love The Brain Jar; not only does it serve the most fantastic and innovative cocktails, but I love the eclectic nature of the building - the art, the decor and the staff! They’re always super friendly and knowledgeable about their cocktails. Accompanied by my husband and best friend - we of course tried as many as we could within the space of a few hours (racking up a bill of over £100!)
1st round: Watermelon Margarita, Lemon Cheesecake and The Mermaids Pearl with Snicker Shots for me and the bestie and a Stairway to Evan shot for Joss.
The Watermelon Margarita was a summery alcoholic slushy whilst the lemon cheesecake remains one of our all time faves tasting just like it’s dessert namesake. The Mermaid’s Pearl was beautiful! The lemon grass infused glittery sea gin mixed with lychee and coconut made for a lush colour and it was a tart, sour drink. I loved the white chocolate fish on the side too - a cute touch! The snickers shooters were also great and went down a bit too easily!
Next up, I had to have my fave all time cocktail - espresso martini, which was fab as always. Joss chose a Jungle Bird which was sweet and beautifully presented and the bestie chose a Salted Karamel Russian - Big Lebowski style! These were washed down with a shot of absinthe each cos - when in Brain Jar!
Final round was two Rainbow Juices and an Amaretto and Cherry Sour with shots of White Gary, a fab creamy shot of salted caramel and white chocolate. The rainbow juice was my favourite of the day. Sweet and fizzy, this bad boy is dangerous as it’s like drinking sherbet. I already can’t wait to get another! Love this place. Remember guys, support local!
